Child Poverty
EconoFact
With over 14% of children living in poverty in 2019, the United States is an outlier among wealthy nations. Children living in poverty often experience poorer physical and mental health, worse educational outcomes, and lower lifetime earnings than their peers. In this episode of EconoFact Explains, we take a close look at some of the causes and consequences of child poverty, the ways in which child poverty rates vary across racial and ethnic groups, and what policy-makers can do to alleviate the scourge of child poverty.
